Built in 1870, the legendary Central Park staple, Tavern on the Green, has reopened on April 24th, 2014 after a two year restoration. Located near Hotel Belleclaire, on Central Park West at W 67th Street, The Tavern on the Green promises an extraordinary tasting menu, relying on high quality ingredients where the food is sourced from local vendors. Under a new control of a Philadelphia team, Jim Caiola and his partner, David Salama, promise to make food and New Yorkers their priority. “I want Upper West Siders to use it as their restaurant,” Caiola told the New York Daily News, creating a more “Old New York” design. Instead of the glitzy chandeliers and the white tablecloths, now, the space includes dark wood, exposed beams and a modern “New American” menu, created by chef Katy Sparks. Come and experience the new, Tavern 2.0, with its brunch and lunch menus opening in May 2014.
