The World Science Festival (WSF) comes to NYC May 27-31, 2015. This can’t-miss cultural event brings thousands of science enthusiasts and experts to the city for a glorious five-day celebration of science. The festival features more than 50 engaging events of all types, including mainstage programs and intimate salons where the world’s top scientists discuss big ideas.
This year, a special series of events will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein’s general theory of relativity, including youth and family offerings like cool jobs and apprenticeships, and old favorites like Stargazing and the Flame Challenge, in which scientists attempt to answer big questions for an audience of curious 11-year-olds.
The World Science Festival in New York culminates in the Ultimate Science Street Fair, an outdoor event taking over Washington Square Park and the surrounding area on Sunday, May 31.
Hailed as a “new cultural institution” by the New York Times, the World Science Festival launched in 2008 and has featured gripping debates, original theatrical works, interactive explorations, musical performances, intimate salons, and major outdoor experiences in the years since.
Past participants have included Stephen Hawking, Glenn Close, Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Weinberg, Philip Glass, Eric Lander, Steven Chu, Chuck Close, Bobby McFerrin, Sylvia Earle, Anna Deavere Smith and Oliver Sacks.
