“Swing Into Spring in NYC!”


Birds are chirping, temperatures are rising, the days are getting longer…alas spring is here! It has been a tough winter here in NYC, but we have made it! 1. The NYC Spring Music Festival: March 2014

The NYC Spring Music Festival will be a month-long festival providing many options to music lovers, at venues across New York City. Musicians of all genres, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, gospel, latin, electronic, and hip hop are invited to participate. Funds generated through the NYC Spring Music Festival will go to support Education Through Music (ETM), New York City’s premier nonprofit dedicated to partnering with inner-city schools to provide music education as a core subject throughout the school year.

The Bronx Bombers play their 2014 season-opening game against the Orioles. Start time for the game is at 1:05 p.m. on April 7th.

3. Explore Central Park: Starting April

A picnic on Sheep Meadow (midpark, from 66th St to 69th St; enter at Central Park West and 67th St) or a row about the pond (Loeb Boathouse, Fifth Ave at 72nd St; 10am–5:30pm; beginning in April; $12), or take in some outdoor art; these will allow you to explore iconic destinations throughout the park.

4. TriBeCa Film Festival: April 16, 2014

The Festival’s mission is to help filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience, enable the international film community and general public to experience the power of cinema and promote New York City as a major filmmaking center. Tribeca Film Festival is well known for being a diverse international film festival that supports emerging and established directors. The Festival has screened over 1400 films from over 80 countries since its first festival in 2002. Since its founding, it has attracted an international audience of more than 4 million attendees!

5. NY International Auto Show: April 19, 2014

See tomorrow’s hottest cars before they hit the streets at the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. This high-octane event is North America’s oldest and most attended auto show, featuring the most innovative automotive technology, the hottest exotics, the latest in green technology and more.


6. NFL Draft: May 8-10, 2014

The NFL Draft is a high-drama annual event, where football fans and sports reporters can watch their favorite college players get selected for—or rejected by—professional teams. Seating is extremely limited at host site Radio City Music Hall all three days, so be sure to line up early (we recommend the night before) to snag a wristband before they’re gone.

7. The 9th Avenue International Food Festival: May 17-18, 2014

The Ninth Avenue International Food Festival, blends international cuisine, art and soul in one of the country’s most unique neighborhoods. Adjacent to Times Square, America’s number one tourist destination, the festival runs from 42nd to 57th streets. The Festival is New York’s oldest and largest continuous Food Festival, drawing over 200,000 visitors over the course of the two day festival weekend.


8. Enjoy Music Concerts: April – May, 2014

Enjoy live music and sing your hearts out to Billy Joel, Miley Cyrus, Armin Van Buuren, Lady Gaga, Cher, or the Celtic Woman.

9. New Taste of the Upper West Side Food Festival: May 27-31, 2014

A cocktail event under the stars to celebrate and raise funds for New York City’s beautiful Theodore Roosevelt Park, surrounding the American Museum of Natural History. With proceeds benefiting the park, this festive occasion in a beautiful setting will have live music and feature champagne and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chris Wyman (Corvo Bianco), Maria Loi (Loi Restaurant), Cesare Casella (Salumeria Rosi Parmacotto), Sarabeth Levine (Sarabeth’s), Matthew Oetting (Caffè Storico), and Rodney Mitchell (Calle Ocho).

10. NY Skyride and Empire State Building Observatory

NY Skyride is a virtual tour of the city presented on the second floor of the Empire State Building. This combination package includes a skip-the -line ticket to the 86th floor observation deck. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
